Hands down best chicken and waffles I ever had, best shrimp and grits I ever had. Tastes like homemade, made from scratch, heavenly goodness. The service was on point! Our server Brittany made sure we got acquainted with the menu and gave suggestions. The calypso sauce is everything you need on a chicken and waffle. The mac and cheese is like your mama’s Thanksgiving dinner and love. We’ll be coming back again and again!

A Friendly Visit to Dames Chicken and Waffles
I had been eagerly anticipating my first visit to Dames Chicken and Waffles, so I arrived bright and early on a Sunday morning at 9:45 am, only to realize that they don't open until 10 am – my bad for not double-checking the hours beforehand! But arriving early turned out to be a blessing, as a small line had already formed outside, and more folks were joining in anticipation of a delicious breakfast.
Once seated, I ordered a glass of water, coffee, and orange juice. However, my excitement dipped momentarily when I noticed some food crumbs in my water. Nonetheless, I decided to give the menu a good look, settling on a waffle with maple pecan-infused butter and the American breakfast.
The waffle, accompanied by its unique buttery topping, was decent, but not quite the flavor explosion I had hoped for. The American breakfast, unfortunately, didn't quite hit the mark either – the turkey bacon was a tad bland, and the sausage patties seemed a bit overdone. But hey, the buttery grits were surprisingly tasty!
To my disappointment, the coffee arrived on the colder side and lacked the robust flavor I was expecting. Despite these minor setbacks, when the bill arrived, I couldn't help but feel it was a tad steep for the overall dining experience.
In the end, while my visit to Dames Chicken and Waffles didn't entirely live up to my expectations, I left with a hopeful outlook. I'm confident that with a bit of attention to cleanliness and perhaps some tweaks to the menu, this charming spot has the potential to provide an even more delightful dining experience for its future guests.

This has been my 4th visit here and has it has been the most enjoyable experience the staff was very friendly and the service was fast food came out in minutes. The food itself was delicious and fresh the chicken was seasoned well and the sweet potato waffle was kind of bland but the vanilla almond smear helped with that. The turkey sandwich and bacon was so good my fiance got a drink I forgot what is was called but it was really good as well. It was my fiancee first visit and she loved it we will be back for a future date night.

The best chicken & waffles I’ve ever had, no cap! I ordered the Carolina Cockere and it was delicious paired with the homemade vanilla almond butter and hot sauce. The sides were incredible, we ordered cheesy Mac, collard greens, and squash. Everything here is delicious, you can’t go wrong ordering anything.

Food was very good. Waffles with flavored butter went crazy. Chicken is good with the hot sauce. Service could have been better. The sanitation grade is a bit concerning. Nothing that warrants leaving 4/5 stars.
